Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has made important remarks regarding the rejection of Meenakshi Natarajan's Rajya Sabha nomination. He stated that election rules require every column in the nomination form to be filled without exception. While election officials may occasionally overlook minor omissions, political rivals often raise objections based on such deficiencies during scrutiny.
The CEC said Meenakshi Natarajan was given an opportunity to furnish details related to pending court cases but did not make use of it. He clarified that once a Returning Officer (RO) makes a decision, it is beyond the Election Commission's jurisdiction to alter it. He also noted that the Supreme Court upheld the Returning Officer's decision. Additionally, Gyanesh Kumar stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's two votes would no longer remain valid under the SIR process.
