The suspense surrounding Bihar’s Chief Minister position has finally ended. With the NDA securing a massive majority, discussions intensified on who would take charge, especially since the BJP emerged with more seats. Considering the upcoming state elections till 2027, the presidential election, and the commitments made to Bihar voters, the BJP has taken a strategic decision. The new government will take oath on November 20.
After detailed discussions between the BJP and its alliance partners, it has been decided that Nitish Kumar will continue as the Chief Minister. The NDA won 202 out of 243 seats, with BJP securing 89, JDU 85, LJP (Ram Vilas) 19, HAM 5, and RLSP 4 seats. Despite BJP becoming the largest party, rumours circulated that the BJP might claim the CM post. BJP state chief Dilip Jaiswal clarified that Nitish Kumar will remain the Chief Minister.
The BJP legislative party will meet tomorrow morning at 10 AM to elect its leader. Following this, the NDA will formally endorse Nitish Kumar's name for the CM post. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on November 20 at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna, with Prime Minister Modi and several BJP-ruled state CMs expected to attend.
The new cabinet will include two Deputy Chief Ministers from BJP and LJP. For Nitish Kumar, implementing the promises made during the elections will now be the biggest challenge. BJP’s support shows that the party is planning its long-term political strategy in Bihar.
