The Andhra Pradesh government has released a major financial package under the Stree Shakti Scheme, one of the key promises under its Super Six initiatives. Introduced in August, the scheme offers free APSRTC bus travel for all women across the state, helping ease their daily travel expenses. The government has now cleared the bills for women’s travel from August 15 to October, releasing an additional ₹400 crore to APSRTC to cover the zero-fare tickets. Officials confirmed that all pending dues for the past two and a half months have been settled.
Transport Department Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu issued official orders, directing the APSRTC Managing Director to proceed with the next steps. Employee unions of APSRTC welcomed the move and thanked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for prioritizing women’s welfare and supporting the corporation financially.
Officials added that the government is steadily implementing every election promise while working to strengthen the state’s economy.
