Former IAS officer Divya Mittal has announced the name of her new political party, Jan Neeti Bharat, and said it will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. In a video posted on her X account, Mittal said her party aims to place people at the centre of policymaking and make the government more accountable to citizens. She also said the party would focus on ensuring that elected representatives listen to public concerns rather than cater only to select groups. Emphasising a people-first approach, she promoted the slogan, “Not politics, but Jan Neeti,” highlighting her vision of public-centred governance.
Mittal, an alumna of IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore who also worked as a Wall Street trader, served as an IAS officer for around 13 years. She reportedly resigned from the civil service on August 30 and announced her entry into politics on September 29. Explaining the rationale behind launching a new party, she said the country has no shortage of political parties, but there is a need for organisations that genuinely listen to ordinary people. She added that Jan Neeti Bharat does not have substantial funds for advertising and plans to reach voters through door-to-door campaigning. Mittal said the party’s representatives would remain accountable to the public and focus on addressing people’s concerns.
