The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated a major administrative restructuring across the state. The government recently decided to form three new districts with Madanapalle, Markapuram, and Rampachodavaram as their headquarters. Chief Secretary Vijanand has now issued preliminary notifications to move the process forward.
Collectors have been instructed to prepare notification copies as required under the District Reorganization Act. The cabinet is also expected to discuss the new districts extensively in its meeting today.
Along with this, the government has established five new revenue divisions: Banaganapalle (Nandyal), Madakasira (Sri Sathya Sai), Narsipatnam (shifted from Kakinada to Anakapalli district), Pileru (Madanapalle district), and Addanki (Prakasam district). Citizens with objections have been given 30 days to submit written representations to their respective district collectors.
In line with the new district boundaries, several mandals have been shifted between districts. Key changes include merging Ontimitta and Siddavatam mandals into Annamayya district, moving Bangarupalyam into the Chittoor division, reorganizing several mandals in Nellore district, and transferring three mandals from Konaseema to East Godavari district. Samarlakota mandal has also been reassigned to a different revenue division.
Officials say these changes are aimed at strengthening administrative efficiency and ensuring better governance across the state.
