The Andhra Pradesh government has begun preparations for Gram Panchayat elections, with the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department reviewing the readiness of district officials. Authorities have identified 13,151 of the state's 13,351 Gram Panchayats as being free of legal or administrative hurdles for conducting elections. Voter lists have already been prepared, and districts have been directed to submit budget proposals required for the election process.
The State Election Commission is considering conducting the Gram Panchayat elections in four phases, with polling likely to be held division-wise. A dedicated online portal has also been developed to provide real-time information on nominations, candidates, polling and results. Officials said the commission is fully prepared to announce the election schedule as soon as the government finalises reservation allocations.
