Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu assured farmers affected by the cyclone that the government would stand by them and urged them not to lose hope. On Friday, he visited cyclone-affected areas in Bapatla district and inspected paddy fields submerged in floodwater at Jillellamudi. The Chief Minister interacted with farmers who had suffered crop losses, offered them reassurance and enquired about the investments they had made in their crops. Farmers explained that the coalition government had supported them by providing irrigation water even during drought conditions, but the cyclone had damaged their crops just as they were nearing harvest. Naidu also asked whether they had enrolled in crop insurance schemes.
The Chief Minister explained that crop insurance and government input subsidies provide support to farmers during natural disasters. He said the government would launch a large-scale awareness campaign to educate farmers about the benefits of crop insurance. Naidu also inspected the floodwater flow near the Jillellamudi bridge. Officials, Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy and local representatives informed him that the strong flow of water in the stream had submerged several areas. Devotees of Jillellamudi Amma met the Chief Minister during his visit, and he appreciated the services they were providing to the community.
