Actor Suriya and Trisha Krishnan starrer Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji, is gearing up for its digital premiere. The film, which was released in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu, will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from June 12. While there were earlier reports about its OTT release, Amazon has now officially confirmed the streaming date with an in-app update. The movie turned out to be a major success in Kollywood and secured a place among the highest-grossing films in Suriya’s career.
The story revolves around a father, Indras, who brings his ailing daughter to Hyderabad for surgery. Upon arrival at Nampally railway station, thieves rob them of 60 sovereigns of gold meant for the operation. When they approach the police, only 45 sovereigns are recovered, and even those require a court order to claim. They seek help from lawyer Baby Krishna, played by RJ Balaji, who initially delays the case for money. Desperate, the father prays at a Veerabhadra temple, after which the deity, portrayed by Suriya, descends to deliver justice. The rest of the film explores whether the father and daughter finally receive justice.
