US President Donald Trump made key remarks on the escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, stating that his intervention may not be necessary at this point. He praised Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, describing them as capable leaders and expressing his respect for both. Trump also mentioned that the current situation in Pakistan appears stable.
The remarks come amid Pakistan’s recent air strikes across multiple locations in Afghanistan, including Kabul and Kandahar. Pakistan claimed that the operations targeted militant camps and resulted in heavy militant casualties. Responding to the developments, the US State Department stated that self-defense is Pakistan’s right and expressed support for measures taken to counter militant threats. While Pakistan has long accused Afghanistan of backing attacks within its territory, Afghan authorities have repeatedly denied these allegations.
