Actor-turned-director RJ Balaji, who impressed audiences with films like Mookuthi Amman and Veetla Vishesham, is now coming up with his new movie Karuppu, titled Veera Bhadrudu in Telugu. The film stars Suriya and is set to release on May 14. In a recent interview, Balaji shared interesting details about choosing the heroine and music director for the film.
Balaji revealed that he had earlier planned to work with Trisha, but it did not happen at that time. So, he approached her again for Karuppu. After listening to the script, she liked it very much and also connected with her role, which made her agree to the project. He also mentioned that even after completing her shooting, Trisha often visited the sets. Interestingly, this film marks the reunion of Suriya and Trisha after 22 years since their film Aaru.
Talking about the music director, Balaji said that he had discussions with AR Rahman after the release of Mookuthi Amman about working together. However, due to personal reasons, Rahman could not take up the project. As the film had already started and a song was urgently needed, Balaji decided to bring in Sai Abhyankkar as the music composer.
