Shabarimala Gold Plating Case: VSSC Report Submitted to SIT

In a significant development in the Shabarimala Ayyappa Temple gold plating case, the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) has submitted its scientific analysis report to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) through the Kollam Vigilance Court. The report pertains to the gold plating on temple gates and various artifacts. Prepared under the directions of the Kerala High Court, the VSSC experts sealed the report and handed it over to the court, which then forwarded it to the SIT on Friday for further investigation.

The case involves the main accused, Unnikrishnan Potti, who in 2019 had removed gold-plated strips during temple renovation works. The SIT requested a scientific comparison of the gold quality before and after the strips were taken. The High Court approved this examination to verify whether any tampering or loss occurred during the removal and subsequent restoration, marking a crucial step in uncovering the details of the gold misappropriation.
