

At least seven Maoists were killed in a major encounter with security forces in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district. Among those neutralised was Prabhakar, a Maoist leader hailing from Kamareddy, who was serving as the Gadchiroli Divisional Committee chief. He carried a reward of ₹50 lakh on his head. The encounter took place during a special anti-Maoist operation launched by security personnel in the forest region.
During the exchange of fire, one police personnel was killed and another sustained injuries, officials confirmed. Acting on specific intelligence inputs about Maoist movement, security forces launched the operation and continue intensive combing in the area. Officials said the encounter has dealt a significant blow to Maoist activities in the Gadchiroli region.
