Due to rising tensions between Israel and Iran, 59 Telugu citizens who were stranded in Bahrain safely departed for Saudi Arabia on Tuesday night. They boarded a flight from Dammam Airport in Saudi Arabia with the coordinated support of APNRT (Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu) and NRI TDP leaders. Over the past ten days, these individuals had been stranded across Bahrain and other Gulf regions and local arrangements were made to ensure their safety and transportation. Although flights in Saudi Arabia were temporarily disrupted due to the conflict, operations have now partially resumed.
The situation of the stranded citizens was first identified by the AP Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) in Bahrain and the NRI TDP division, who promptly informed the authorities and sought immediate assistance. Following this, under the directions of Minister Nara Lokesh, officials including Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, State Ministers Kondapalli Srinivas, AP Bhavan Commissioner Arja Srikanth, APNRT Chairman Vemuri Ravikumar and CEO Krishnamohan coordinated with goodwill ambassadors to ensure the citizens’ safe transit.
According to Ravi Radhakrishna, President of the NRI TDP Gulf Council, around 100 APNRT goodwill ambassadors actively assisted across Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. They facilitated transit visas, arranged local transportation and provided personal vehicles and other logistical support to help the citizens reach the airport. The Telugu citizens expressed their gratitude to Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, Ministers Nara Lokesh and Kondapalli Srinivas, the APNRT team, the Andhra Pradesh government, Indian embassies and NRI TDP leaders in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia for their invaluable support.
