

The State Government has estimated that an expenditure of approximately Rs 32,000 crore is required to complete the second phase of the Polavaram project. Accordingly, the Department of Water Resources has prepared a comprehensive report. It is reported that the State Chief Secretary is scheduled to submit this report to the Secretary of the Department of Jal Shakti in Delhi on May 1st.
As part of the second phase, substantial funds are required for rehabilitation and relief measures. The report states that Rs 21,000 crore would need to be allocated for this purpose. Additionally, an estimated Rs 5,400 crore is required for the construction of the canal network.
It appears that Rs 4,350 crore is required for navigation facilities within the project, with other miscellaneous expenses also included in this figure. Overall, the government intends to explain to the Centre that massive financial assistance is essential to complete this phase of the project.
