The Telangana government has extended financial support to the families of police personnel who lost their lives while performing duty. The families of Telangana Excise Constable Gajula Soumya, who died recently during duty, and Police Constable Pramod Kumar, who was stabbed to death by miscreants while on duty in October last year, were given an ex-gratia of Rs. 1 crore each. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally handed over the cheques to the bereaved families in Nizamabad.
On January 23, Constable Soumya displayed exceptional courage while attempting to nab a ganja smuggling gang in Nizamabad. During the operation, smugglers rammed their vehicle into her, causing severe injuries. She later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister stated that the government stands firmly with the families of police personnel who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty.
