The arrest of iBomma operator Ravi has become a major talking point across the Telugu film industry. Following the sensational crackdown, top film celebrities including Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Rajamouli, Dil Raju and Suresh Babu met Hyderabad City Commissioner Sajjanar to discuss the impact of online piracy. After the meeting, director SS Rajamouli gave a powerful reaction in his trademark style. Rajamouli compared the situation to a “cinematic climax,” saying, “The way the operator challenged the police and was finally caught after two months feels exactly like a villain being trapped by the hero. He brought this upon himself — like a Bhasmasura burning himself with his own hand.” He thanked the Hyderabad and Telangana police for the strong action.
The director warned the public about the hidden dangers behind piracy websites. “Nothing comes for free. If something is free, you are the product. People think they are just watching a free movie, but in reality they are handing over their personal data. With just your name, phone number, Aadhaar or email, criminals can exploit you. People have lost not just money but even their lives due to cyber fraud,” Rajamouli said.
