Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that everyone should support the Women’s Bill. He made these remarks in a post on X, tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that there are differing opinions regarding the increase in Lok Sabha seats and suggested that the matter should be discussed in an all-party meeting before a decision is taken. He emphasized that the expansion of Lok Sabha seats and women’s reservations are two separate issues that every citizen should understand. He further said that if women’s reservations are implemented in State Assembly seats, it would be widely welcomed across the country. However, he alleged that the BJP is attempting to increase Lok Sabha seats on a population basis under the name of women’s reservations.
He also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Modi on the issues of reservations and delimitation, reiterating that women’s reservations and delimitation are distinct matters. He stated that immediate implementation of women’s quota would be welcomed nationwide. He warned that delimitation could cause injustice to southern states as well as smaller states. He added that the reorganization of Lok Sabha constituencies could potentially benefit the BJP. He strongly asserted that national interest must take precedence over party interests.
