Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged Members of Parliament to support the Women’s Reservation Bill, calling it a defining moment for ensuring equal rights and political representation for women. Addressing the House, he emphasized that the nation has waited over four decades for this reform and appealed to MPs to rise above political differences and vote responsibly. He stressed that this is an opportunity to create history and strengthen women’s participation in governance.
Ahead of the voting on the Constitutional Amendment Bill related to women’s reservation and the delimitation bills, Modi made an emotional appeal on social media. He asked MPs to think of the women in their lives — mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives — and vote according to their conscience. Highlighting that this is a rare opportunity to serve and सम्मान women’s power, he urged members not to deny new opportunities to women and to stand united in passing the legislation.
