Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and State Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy have requested Union Minister Prahlad Joshi to procure 30 lakh metric tonnes of boiled rice from the state for the Yasangi season. During their meeting in Delhi, they explained that paddy grown in Telangana is highly suitable for boiled rice milling. They also highlighted that past data from six Yasangi seasons clearly supports this capability.
The Chief Minister informed that around 90 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is expected to be produced in the current season. Considering the high demand for boiled rice across the country, the state expressed readiness to supply 30 lakh metric tonnes of boiled rice and 5 lakh metric tonnes of raw rice. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi has given in-principle approval to the proposal made by the state leaders.
