

The Indian women’s football team concluded the FIFA series on a high note. In a thrilling third-place playoff match held on Wednesday in Nairobi, India secured a 3-2 victory against Malawi. The match remained closely contested throughout, with India’s goals coming from Astam Oran in the 18th minute, Aveka Singh in the 45th minute and Priyadarshini Selladurai in the 84th minute.
On the other hand, Malawi responded with goals from Kumalo Erin in the 42nd minute and Henry Deborah in the 60th minute. India took the lead in the 18th minute when Astam Oran converted a pass from Nirmaladevi off a right corner into a goal, giving India the opening advantage. Notably, this was the first international goal for the 21-year-old Oran. As the first half neared its end, both teams scored within minutes of each other, with India heading into halftime leading 2-1.
