The family members of Nikitha Godishala, who was found brutally murdered in an apartment in the United States, have clarified that the main accused, Arjun Sharma, has not been arrested in India. In a joint statement, the family strongly refuted media reports claiming his arrest, calling them false and misleading. They stated that after directly speaking with US law enforcement agencies and police officials in the state of Maryland, it was confirmed that there has been no arrest so far.
The family further stated that they are in constant coordination with the Indian Embassy in the United States, consular officials, and concerned Indian government authorities. The process of bringing Nikitha’s mortal remains back to India is currently underway. Speaking to the media, her father Anand Godishala said that US officials informed them it may take another three to four days for repatriation. Meanwhile, BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao visited the family and expressed condolences. He also wrote to Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, seeking swift intervention to expedite the repatriation and initiate appropriate action against Arjun Sharma, who is absconding after an arrest warrant was issued by Howard County police.
