

A major road accident took place in Tumakuru on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Saturday night. Five people travelling in the car died on the spot after a Tata Indica car and a Karnataka RTC bus collided. At around 11.30 pm, the speeding car hit the divider, crossed the lane and hit the oncoming bus. The car was completely crushed in the accident.
Police initially believe that speeding was the main reason for the accident. While four people in the car died on the spot, the seriously injured driver succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. It is reported that two of the deceased were private college students.
There were about 42 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident, some in the front row suffered minor injuries. The injured were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital and are being treated. The continuous road accidents are causing concern in the city.
