Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asserted that anyone who commits a wrongdoing must face investigation, regardless of their stature. Speaking as the chief guest at the Ravi Narayana Reddy National Award ceremony held at the Ravi Narayana Reddy Auditorium in Banjara Hills, the Chief Minister said democracy does not permit anyone to place themselves above the law. He presented the prestigious award to Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, calling the selection timely and appropriate.
CM Revanth Reddy strongly criticised those who project themselves as “national leaders” or “movement icons” while amassing wealth and power. He recalled that true icons like Mahatma Gandhi sacrificed positions and ultimately their lives for the nation. He highlighted that leaders such as Ravi Narayana Reddy gave up land, power, and privilege for Telangana, unlike those who claim legacy without sacrifice. The Chief Minister reiterated that in a democracy, accountability is inevitable, quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and citing examples of prominent leaders who faced legal scrutiny.
