Protests in Iran, which began due to an economic crisis, have escalated into violent clashes. According to recent human rights reports, 2,571 people have died so far in the protests. Among them, 2,403 were protesters, 147 were security personnel, and 21 were civilians, including 12 children. Over 18,000 protesters have been arrested, and concerns remain that the death toll may rise further.
Due to the disruptions in SMS and internet services, the satellite internet provider Starlink is reportedly offering free services to help maintain communication, though the company has not yet confirmed this. Meanwhile, authorities are reportedly preparing to execute Irfan Soltani, a 26-year-old protester recently arrested for participating in the demonstrations.
U.S. President Donald Trump warned that severe actions would be taken in response to such measures. In retaliation, Iran accused the U.S. and Israel of being the main instigators of the protests, claiming both countries are fueling unrest in the country.
