

Due to the surface circulation persisting over the west-central Bay of Bengal, heavy rains are likely to lash several parts of Telangana, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has warned. An Yellow Alert has been issued for 10 districts, including Khammam, Nalgonda, Warangal, and Mahabubnagar. On Tuesday, Khammam district’s Karepalli recorded the highest rainfall at 7.0 cm. Authorities have advised farmers to take precautionary measures to protect their crops from the unseasonal rains. Weather conditions in Telangana have suddenly changed. Under the influence of the surface circulation near the coastal Andhra region over the west-central Bay of Bengal, the IMD (Hyderabad) forecasted light to moderate rains across the state. The circulation is active at an altitude of 0.9 km above sea level, accompanied by north and northwesterly winds at lower levels.
As a result of these weather conditions, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected within the next 12 hours, according to the IMD. On November 5, several areas of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rains, with heavy rainfall expected in a few districts. Due to this forecast, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool districts, urging people to stay vigilant.
On Tuesday, unexpected heavy rainfall was recorded in several districts, with some regions witnessing record-level rainfall Khammam’s Karepalli (7.0 cm), Nagarkurnool’s Peddur (7.0 cm), Ranga Reddy’s Chukkapur (6.5 cm), Vikarabad’s Basheerabad (6.4 cm), Nagarkurnool’s Kummera (5.5 cm), and Ranga Reddy’s Thommidirekulu (5.0 cm). Officials have advised farmers to protect their crops and take necessary precautions. They also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas, until weather conditions improve.
