A gas pipeline leak in Irsumanda village of Malikipuram mandal in Ambedkar Konaseema district created panic among residents. Gas leaked from an ONGC pipeline and ignited suddenly, leading to massive flames and thick smoke spreading across the area. Fearing for their lives, villagers rushed out of their homes to safer places.
Local officials rushed to the spot after receiving information. The Mandal Tahsildar inspected the situation and immediately alerted ONGC authorities. Technical teams from ONGC arrived with fire engines and began efforts to control the flames.
Minister Subhash reviewed the incident and spoke to the district collector and company representatives, directing them to ensure quick containment without causing inconvenience to the public.
Residents expressed serious concern as a similar gas leak had occurred in the same village last August. Frequent leaks, they warned, could eventually lead to a major disaster if permanent safety measures are not implemented.
Responding to the incident, Minister Atchannaidu contacted the district collector and SP, seeking details and instructing that villagers be shifted immediately to safe locations. ONGC teams are currently working to fully bring the situation under control.
