Chief Minister Chandrababu stated that the government is committed to providing safe drinking water to every household in the villages. He mentioned that, under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), they are working with the objective of supplying drinking water through taps to every home by 2028. He made these remarks on the occasion of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Government regarding the implementation of JJM 2.0.
He revealed that priority is being accorded to the operation and maintenance of rural drinking water supply systems, and that these responsibilities have been entrusted to the Panchayats. He also noted that the government has set a target to complete the Polavaram project by the time of the Godavari Pushkarams. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for extending his cooperation towards the extension of the JJM.
Officials stated that this agreement would further strengthen the rural water supply infrastructure. The primary objective of this initiative is to achieve the 'Har Ghar Jal' (Water for Every Home) target by December 2028. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, along with senior officials from both the Central and State governments, participated in this event.
