Telangana has once again showcased its unprecedented progress. The state electricity utilities efficiently managed a peak power demand of 18,139 megawatts at 11:01 AM today without any interruptions. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu stated that this is the highest peak demand ever recorded in the history of the state. He congratulated the senior officials and staff of the electricity sector for successfully managing the peak demand without any disruptions, describing this achievement as a reflection of Telangana’s economic growth, coordination efficiency
and administrative competence.
Despite being geographically a small state, Telangana has reached levels comparable to or exceeding the peak loads of larger states. With a peak demand of 18,139 megawatts, Telangana stands on par with Madhya Pradesh, which recorded around 19,900 megawatts and Rajasthan, which registered a peak demand of 19,600–20,600 megawatts. The Deputy CM also highlighted that Telangana has surpassed several industrialized states, including Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, in terms of peak power demand.
The high electricity consumption density in Telangana, along with rapid growth in IT, pharmaceutical manufacturing, general industry and irrigation sectors, are key factors contributing to this achievement, the Deputy CM explained. According to historical data, the peak demand was 15,623 MW in 2023–24, 17,162 MW in 2024–25 and 17,162 MW in 2025–26. Today’s record of 18,139 MW marks a new milestone.
The Deputy CM emphasized, “Telangana is fully prepared not only to meet current demands but also for the upcoming peak demands in the summer. A robust grid system, proactive planning and coordinated operations ensure the state’s energy strength.” He further noted that Telangana’s electricity sector consistently upholds quality, efficiency and reliable supply, setting an example for other states across the country.
