Delhi is set to undergo a major administrative change as the government has approved the creation of two new revenue districts. With this, the total number of districts in the national capital will increase from 11 to 13. The Delhi Cabinet has given its in-principle approval, and the proposal has now been forwarded to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena for final consent.
According to the plan, the existing North district will be split into Civil Lines and Old Delhi. The move aims to improve administrative efficiency, ensure better governance, and make public services more accessible to citizens.
Once the Lieutenant Governor gives approval, the reorganization will officially come into effect. Further details on staffing, boundaries, and administrative setup are expected to be announced soon.
