Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, ticket distribution at the Bangalore venue has sparked political controversy. Congress MLA Vijayananda Kashappanavar criticized the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), alleging irregularities and black marketing in ticket allocation. He also complained that MLAs and ministers were not receiving tickets, and regular fans were struggling to get access. Tickets for matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium were reportedly being sold from ₹5,000 to ₹35,000.
However, some MLAs defended the online ticketing system, saying it provides equal opportunity to fans. With the IPL 2026 season approaching, the controversy raises questions about the management of high demand cricket tickets. Tickets for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore home matches were sold out within minutes on official websites, but the presence of tickets on third-party apps caused frustration among some fans.
