Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reaffirmed that farmers’ welfare remains the government’s top priority, stating that “a nation cannot prosper if its farmers suffer.” Speaking at the Rythu Utsavalu held in Narmetta village of Nangunur mandal, he announced that ₹9,000 crore is being credited to farmers’ accounts in three phases within 45 days under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He highlighted that the current government is spending nearly ₹5,500 crore per month on farmer welfare, significantly higher than the previous administration. He also noted that Telangana has emerged as the number one state in paddy production and that 71 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been procured this season.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for crop diversification and urged farmers to move beyond paddy cultivation toward more profitable crops such as oil palm, which has already expanded to 3 lakh acres. He assured full government support for procurement and export opportunities. Additionally, he emphasized women’s empowerment, stating that over ₹57,000 crore has been provided through bank linkages and that initiatives like free RTC bus travel and solar energy projects are helping women become financially independent. He also called for coordinated efforts with the Centre to address potential fertilizer shortages and reiterated that development, not politics, is the government’s focus.
