

A central team from the Central Water Commission (CWC) visited the Polavaram project site on Friday to review the ongoing construction works.
Aditya Sharma, Ex-Officio Member of the Designs and Research Division of the CWC, and Chief Engineer S.S. Bhakshi, along with Polavaram Project Authority Member-Secretary M. Raghuram, inspected various sections of the project.
Officials from the Water Resources Department, including ENC N.C.K. Narasimharmurthy, Polavaram SE K. Ramachandra Rao, Quality Control CE K. Sheshubabu, DEs Bala Krishna, D. Srinivas, and M/s MEIL’s GM Gangadhar and DGM Murali, briefed the central team on the construction status and technical progress.
The officials presented a complete overview of the project from the Polavaram viewpoint and later escorted the team to the model dam area. Each department explained its respective works in detail.
The team also inspected the spillway, spillway gates, hydraulic cylinders, and power packs. They examined the upstream cofferdam, Gap-1 area, diaphragm wall, and hydropower station works, gathering details from engineers at each site.
