Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar appealed to RTC employees to call off the ongoing strike, stressing that it is not a solution to their problems. He said the government has already formed a committee of senior officials to address the issues and directed it to submit a report within four weeks. The minister clarified that out of the 32 demands raised by employees, 29 have no objection from the government and can be resolved quickly.
He further assured that pending issues like RTC merger and union elections require technical examination and will be discussed with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. Highlighting the steps taken, he said dues have been cleared, recruitments are underway, and financial burdens are being reduced. He urged employees to avoid causing inconvenience to lakhs of daily passengers, especially women and rural commuters, and assured that the government stands firmly with RTC workers.
