The emotion of fear has always played a special role in cinema, especially in thriller and horror films. With modern technology and sound effects, filmmakers can easily create tension, but only a few movies truly succeed in keeping audiences on edge. The latest Hollywood film Thrash, directed by Tommy Wirkola, is one such gripping thriller now streaming on Netflix. The film manages to keep viewers glued to their seats with intense and realistic storytelling.
The story is set in Aniville, a city on the East Coast of the United States, where a powerful Category 5 hurricane named Henry hits hard. Dakota stays back alone in her mother’s house despite the danger. At the same time, Lisa gets trapped in rising floodwaters near Dakota’s home while heading for delivery. Meanwhile, Dee and Ron, along with their sister, struggle to survive as the city begins to drown after a reservoir wall collapses. Along with the flood, deadly sharks are swept into the city, creating a terrifying situation.
The real twist of the film lies in how these characters survive between rising water and dangerous sharks. Except for a small cinematic liberty, the film feels very realistic and intense. After watching, viewers get the feeling of experiencing a truly strong thriller after a long time. Similar to the impact of films like Twister, Thrash delivers even more tension and excitement. It is a must-watch for all thriller lovers.
