A shocking incident has come to light in Bengaluru, where a Rapido bike taxi rider allegedly attempted to grab a woman passenger’s legs during a ride. The incident reportedly took place around 4 p.m. on Thursday, following which the woman filed a police complaint at the Wilson Garden Police Station. An FIR has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.
According to the complaint, the woman was returning to her PG (Paying Guest accommodation) from Church Street when the incident occurred. The rider, referred to as the “captain,” allegedly tried to grab her legs while riding.
In her Instagram post, the woman detailed her terrifying experience:
“It happened so suddenly that I couldn’t even react, let alone record it. When he did it again, I said, ‘Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo’ (What are you doing? Don’t do this), but he didn’t stop.”
She further stated that she didn’t ask him to stop the bike as she was new to the city and unfamiliar with the area.
Upon reaching her destination, a bystander noticed her distress and confronted the Rapido rider. The accused apologized, promising not to repeat such behavior, but as he left, he allegedly pointed a finger at her in a threatening manner, leaving her even more shaken.
The woman shared that this wasn’t the first time she had faced harassment but decided to speak out this time due to the fear and helplessness she felt.
The police have begun investigating the case, and a response from Rapido is still awaited.
