Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed satisfaction over Andhra Pradesh securing the top position in the country in the implementation of the Micro Irrigation Project (APMIP). He commended the officials and staff for surpassing targets in the 2025–26 financial year by bringing a record 126,057 hectares under micro irrigation. He noted that Gujarat stands second with around 105,000 hectares under micro irrigation.
The Chief Minister praised the efforts of officials for effectively translating the government’s vision of optimal water utilization into action at the grassroots level, thereby making the state a national leader. He extended his congratulations to the 108,143 farmers benefiting from the scheme and expressed hope that modern agricultural practices would help them achieve better yields and higher profits. He highlighted that the adoption of drip and sprinkler irrigation methods not only conserves water but also reduces cultivation costs, strengthening farmers financially.
Reaffirming the government’s support to farmers cultivating a wide range of crops from tomatoes and oil palm to chillies and pulses he stated that subsidies worth ₹1,030 crore have been provided under the project. He directed officials to further expand micro irrigation coverage and ensure that all eligible farmers receive subsidies in a timely manner. The Chief Minister also emphasized the goal of bringing several thousand more hectares under cultivation in the coming years and transforming Andhra Pradesh into a global horticulture hub.
