YSRCP leader Ambati Rambabu has approached the High Court alleging that he was subjected to custodial torture by the police. He filed a petition seeking directions to register an FIR against the officials of Guntur district’s Nallapadu police station and to initiate disciplinary action against those responsible. He also requested the court to order an independent probe into the incident instead of assigning the investigation to the CID or SIT. Additionally, Rambabu urged the court to ensure that CCTV footage related to his detention period is preserved.
The case against Ambati Rambabu was registered by the Nallapadu police based on a complaint filed by TDP leaders, alleging that he used abusive language against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Following his arrest, Rambabu was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody. Claiming that he was tortured during police custody, he has now sought the court’s intervention to take action against the concerned officials.
