Delivery workers associated with major e-commerce and aggregator companies such as Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, Blinkit, Amazon and Flipkart staged a nationwide strike on December 25, 2025 to demand their rights. They are set to hold another all-India strike on December 31, 2025.
The strike is being organised in protest against declining incomes, unsafe working conditions, the increasing pressure caused by risky 10-minute delivery targets, arbitrary ID blocking, and the absence of social security benefits. Despite working long hours every day, delivery workers state that they are not receiving fair wages, safety, dignity, or job security.
Key Demands of Delivery Worker
Abolition of dangerous 10-minute delivery policies.
Immediate stop to arbitrary ID blocking.
Provision of safety equipment and accident insurance.
Assurance of continuous work.Respectful treatment of workers.
Mandatory rest breaks.
Proper support for app-related and technical issues.
Job security and social security benefits.
Appeal to the Government
Delivery workers have urged both the Central and State governments to intervene immediately and provide legal protection and social security safeguards to protect the rights of gig workers.
