Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 opened to mixed reviews upon release, but the film managed to post a decent opening-day collection. The Telugu version recorded approximately Rs. 22 crore nett on day one, indicating strong initial interest among fans. However, the film witnessed a noticeable dip on the second day, collecting around Rs. 15 crore nett. While evening shows showed slightly better occupancy, overall collections remained flat compared to the opening day.
The film is performing relatively better in B and C centres, which has traditionally been Balakrishna’s strong market. In North America, Akhanda 2 earned close to $600,000 on its first day, but collections dropped further on day two, where competing release Durandhar is performing strongly. Given the film’s scale and budget, trade experts believe that a strong Sunday recovery is crucial for faster break-even. Despite the proven Balakrishna–Boyapati combination, public opinion suggests that this outing failed to meet expectations, even though the film eventually saw a smooth release after initial financial hurdles and ticket price controversies.
