Satwik-Chirag Create History, Win Maiden China Masters Title in Thrilling Comeback

India’s star men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty scripted history on Sunday by clinching the country’s maiden China Masters title. The 2022 Asian Games gold medallists defeated China’s He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in a thrilling comeback at the Shenzhen Arena. After losing the opening game, the Indian duo bounced back strongly to level the contest before producing a composed finish in the decider.

The victory capped a demanding week in which Satwik and Chirag spent more than five hours on court. Playing in their third China Masters final after finishing runners-up in 2023 and 2025, the Indians drew on their experience to overcome the home favourites. Trailing 16-17 in the deciding game, they won five consecutive points to seal the match in one hour and 10 minutes. The triumph also became their second BWF World Tour Super 750 title of the 2026 season after their Singapore Open victory in May, giving them valuable momentum ahead of their Asian Games title defence later this month.
