Director Meher Ramesh said Visakhapatnam is set to emerge as a cinema capital in the near future. He said the city is developing under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, MLA Balakrishna and Minister Kandula Durgesh. Efforts are being made to encourage more film shoots in Visakhapatnam, while the city is also expected to grow as a Google and IT hub, he added.
APFDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan said steps are being taken to develop Visakhapatnam alongside Amaravati, particularly as a major destination for the film industry. He said several dubbing theatres would be developed and arrangements were being made to host national-level or Nandi Awards events in the city. A single-window system for film shootings is also expected to be introduced soon. He added that pending subsidies were being released and stressed the importance of supporting small films, which form the backbone of the industry.
