Actor Shruti Haasan has filed a petition before the Bombay High Court seeking legal protection for her personality and publicity rights. She alleged that several businesses, social media platforms and AI deepfake creators have been using her name, image and likeness without permission. She also expressed concern over AI-generated morphed videos and explicit content allegedly created using her identity.
The Bombay High Court has permitted Shruti Haasan to file a commercial suit over the alleged violation of her rights. She further claimed that her name and photographs were being used for promotional purposes on e-commerce websites and booking applications without authorisation. Prominent actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Kamal Haasan have previously secured similar legal protection for their personality rights.
