Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has submitted an affidavit to the Karnataka High Court stating that he will file a revised apology letter over allegations of insulting a divine character portrayed in the film Kantara. The petitioner’s lawyer argued that Ranveer’s earlier apology lacked genuine remorse and appeared to suggest that filing the complaint itself was wrong. Justice M. Nagaprasanna heard the plea seeking to quash the case registered at High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru and reviewed the contents of the affidavit and apology submitted earlier.
Ranveer Singh’s counsel informed the court that they would consult with the petitioner and submit a revised affidavit using language that would satisfy the complainant. The court subsequently adjourned the hearing to the 28th of this month. In his statement, Ranveer expressed regret, saying he did not realize at the time that his actions could hurt the sentiments of devotees. He added that, being born into a Sindhi family in Mumbai, he was unaware of the cultural significance involved, and he sincerely and unconditionally apologized. He also conveyed his intention to visit the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru to offer prayers in the coming days.
