When fans are asked about Superstar Rajinikanth’s all-time best films, the names that instantly come to mind are Baashha, Narasimha, and Dalapathi. These are timeless entertainers that never get boring no matter how many times you watch them.
Especially Narasimha (original Tamil title Padayappa) has been a huge inspiration for countless directors with its perfect commercial elements. Now this 1999 industry blockbuster is all set for a grand re-release in its original Tamil version on December 12, Rajinikanth’s birthday. The official announcement has finally arrived.
Released on April 10, 1999, Padayappa created history with 210 prints and sold a staggering 7 lakh audio cassettes. Collections were like a tsunami; theatre owners were speechless. House-full boards weren’t even needed, and for the next 2–3 weeks no other producer dared to release their new film. Rajini’s swag, Ramya Krishnan’s powerful villain role, A. R.
