Producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi made some bold remarks during the audio launch of 'Viswanath & Sons', starring Suriya and directed by Venky Atluri. Requesting audiences not to mistake his confidence for arrogance, Naga Vamsi said the film would bring back memories of Suriya's iconic Sanjay Ramasamy character from Ghajini. He also expressed confidence that Viswanath & Sons would become a blockbuster in Tamil cinema, comparable to the impact of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. He further praised Mamitha Baiju, saying Gen-Z audiences would especially appreciate her performance, and highlighted an emotional sequence featuring Suriya, Mamitha, and Radhika as one of the film's major highlights.
Naga Vamsi's comments quickly went viral on social media, triggering mixed reactions. While many fans appreciated his confidence, others criticized the comparisons and began trolling the film even before its release. Reacting at the event, Suriya said he thanked Naga Vamsi for bringing the project to him and credited director Venky Atluri for giving him a memorable role. He added that the film offers romance, family emotions, comedy, and mass moments, expressing confidence that audiences would leave theatres with a smile. Viswanath & Sons is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14.
