Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that eradicating poverty in India is not merely a government slogan but a firm commitment. He expressed satisfaction over a World Bank report highlighting India as one of the countries witnessing the fastest reduction in poverty. In an Instagram post featuring the inspiring song ‘Thaunliya’ from the Bollywood film ‘Dasvi’ as background music, Modi highlighted the country's progress in poverty reduction. He said it was a matter of pride that the World Bank had acknowledged India's efforts in this regard.
Modi criticised the Congress, saying the party had spoken about ‘Garibi Hatao’ (eradicate poverty) for decades, but his government was committed to delivering results. He also stated that 13.4 crore people had been provided employment opportunities over the past six years. The Prime Minister reiterated that poverty reduction and expanding employment opportunities remain key priorities of his government.
