Following the massive success of Kalki 2898 AD, expectations for its sequel have reached new heights among movie lovers. In recent weeks, several rumours surfaced on social media claiming that the character of Sumathi would be removed from Kalki 2 or that actress Sai Pallavi would replace Deepika Padukone in the role. These reports quickly gained attention among fans and film circles.
Director Nag Ashwin has now firmly dismissed all such speculation. He clarified that Sumathi is one of the most important characters in the Kalki storyline and there is no question of removing her from the sequel. He also denied reports suggesting Sai Pallavi had been approached for the role. Nag Ashwin revealed that two major shooting schedules of Kalki 2 have already been completed successfully and confirmed that continuous shooting will resume from September, with the team aiming to complete the remaining portions at a rapid pace.
