Several actresses from the Kannada film industry have openly spoken out against inappropriate filming at public events. Actress Sapthami Gowda, who gained fame with the film Kantara, expressed strong concern over the issue. Through her Instagram story, she urged people to view female artists as professionals, stating that deliberately zooming in and capturing them from objectionable angles is completely unethical. “We are here for our work. Unnecessary zooming and filming is a violation of our dignity,” she said emotionally, highlighting the issue with the hashtag ActorsNotObjects.
Actresses Rukmini Vasanth and Ashika Ranganath also extended their support to Sapthami Gowda’s stance. They emphasized that capturing photos and videos of women artists from vulgar angles at public events is unacceptable. The actresses reminded media personnel and digital content creators of their responsibility to respect artists’ personal dignity. While social media has increased fan engagement, industry voices note that the growing paparazzi culture is sometimes infringing on personal privacy. Notably, many members of the Kannada film fraternity have come forward in support of the movement initiated by Sapthami.
