

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said his government would carry forward the vision of former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Speaking at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Awards–2026 ceremony organised by the Dr. YSR–Dr. KVP Foundation at Constitution Club in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy announced that the Pranahita-Chevella, SLBC and Kalwakurthy lift irrigation projects would be completed and dedicated to the people of Telangana. He said the projects were aimed at providing irrigation to 16 lakh acres.
The Chief Minister recalled YSR’s contribution to the welfare of farmers, including his 2003 Praja Prasthanam padayatra and the decision to provide free power to farmers. He also highlighted the cancellation of electricity dues and withdrawal of cases against farmers during YSR’s tenure. The Dr. YSR Award–2026 was presented to the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation for its contributions to agriculture, food security, sustainable development and rural livelihoods. Revanth Reddy also highlighted the importance of the Public Distribution System in ensuring food security for the poor.
