Actress Taapsee Pannu, who has been more active in Bollywood than in South cinema, has made strong comments about discrimination in the film industry. She said that during her time working in the South film industry, she faced bias and unequal treatment. According to her, younger male actors often hesitated to share screen space with her when she acted alongside senior stars.
Taapsee also stated that she was told female actors above the age of 30 were not suitable for romantic or comedy roles. She added that such age related discrimination is mostly faced by women, while male actors do not face similar restrictions. Her comments made during an interview have now gone viral on social media.
